Sky Deutschland and TV 2 Norway select Viz Opus for new channels

Sky Deutschland and TV 2 Norway are the first broadcasters to use the Viz Opus compact control room to expand their production capabilities.

Vizrt’s new Viz Opus combines Vizrt’s graphics rendering, video playout and studio automation capabilities to create a value-driven, single-solution control room.

Sky Deutschland has selected Viz Opus for their sports broadcast production. The solution, which has been tested and will go live this month, will manage a single-camera web-channel production and will later function as a back-up system for their main production.

On air in October, 2014, TV 2 Norway will use Viz Opus to produce newsreels for Flytoget, the airport express train in Oslo. The Oslo-based system will be used for Oslo productions and remotely by the broadcaster‘s Bergen studio.

The system provides high-end graphics, audio mixing capabilities, video playout, asset management, vision mixing, multiple SDI and IP inputs, and interactive multiviewer functionality - all controlled by the Viz Mosart automation system. It also works with existing newsroom computer workflows. Rundowns created in ENPS, Avid iNEWS, Octopus, Dalet News, Annova’s OpenMedia, NorCom and others, are interpreted by Viz Opus to create a playlist executed using the internal systems, mixing external video and audio inputs with internal video and graphics to create broadcast-ready HD SDI/IP output.

Fitting perfectly into newsroom’s established graphics and video workflow, Viz Opus simplifies the operational complexity faced by broadcasters today and enables them to do more with what they have. Viz Opus frees up time for revenue-producing tasks such as the creation of more dynamic, compelling content and gives access to Vizrt’s high-end production tools for more professional and consistent creative output.

For Vizrt CTO Petter Ole Jakobsen the innovation fills an obvious but critical need in the marketplace. “We recognised that many broadcasters need to be able to launch new channels on any platform, economically and without sacrificing quality. Viz Opus answers this need by combining the proven quality of our studio automation and graphics and video products, and then streamlining the workflow to create a product that is extremely powerful yet has a small footprint.”
