Vizrt partner never.no enables social interaction for Univision’s US election broadcast

With a combination of Vizrt graphics and never.no social interaction, Univision empowered viewers to become part of the story during the US election.

Univision, the largest Spanish-language broadcaster in the USA, used the never.no Interactivity Suite to enable Social TV solutions for their broadcast coverage during the 2012 Election night.

During the broadcast, Univision displayed a call to action in a scrolling lower third of the screen, encouraging viewers to send in their election opinions via Twitter and Facebook.
 

Using never.no’s Interactivity Suite, Univision were able to harvest relevant tweets, geolocation data and Facebook comments and moderate the incoming data in real-time before selecting the best comments to be shown on air.

The tweets and Facebook comments were displayed with a Perceptive Pixel touch-screen in the studio, which enabled multitouch interaction by the talent. The presenter read out the incoming messages and then asked the panel to discuss the comments.

In addition, never.no’s graphics partner Vizrt provided Viz World software to generate a map scene which displayed the viewer’s location along with their tweet and profile image. The Tweet Maps feature provided an additional interactive way of integrating Twitter for a dynamic Social TV experience.
