Viz Weather 2.5: Informing viewers of severe weather with alerts and live cameras

Viz Weather 2.5 includes several new tools to gather and display severe weather data as well as easily display a wide variety of live streaming cameras.

Viz Weather is a complete 3D real-time weather system. It features a broad range of advanced visualization possibilities. Viz Weather integrates with a wide range of weather-data providers and can trigger graphics and animations automatically. Version 2.5 has added support for the 64-bit Viz Engine, creating greater graphics rendering capabilities for more complex and informative weather displays.

Visualizing severe weather

Viz Weather 2.5 includes new Severe Weather tools that utilize Vizrt’s Feed Streamer technology, used in Vizrt’s Social TV solution for searching and sorting social media content and sending it live on-air. The technology allows Viz Weather to receive, filter, sort, and display data about severe weather conditions such as watches and warnings, local storm reports, live radar, and lightning reports. The severe weather types are available as separate layers of information to be displayed over maps, tickers or interactive displays and can be combined within existing workflows. The use of Feed Streamer allows the weather presenter to moderate social media content for sharing severe weather information to and from social media or adding manual information on-air.

Live weather cameras

New support for live weather cameras allows the weather presenter from a simple and intuitive interface to select and display live streaming weather cameras from providers such as EarthTV, or the broadcaster's own sources. Viz Weather allows the presenter to preview the streams before adding them to a playlist for live broadcast.
