Viz Engine / Viz Artist 3.9.0

The latest major update to Vizrt’s render engine, video server, and design tool features enhancements for designing photo-realistic virtual sets and augmented reality graphics.

Viz Engine and Viz Artist 3.9.0 are released today with many new features that enhance performance and render capabilities. Notably, users can create high-quality global illumination graphics in real-time. Additionally Viz Artist now connects with UNREAL Engine 4. Vizrt will demonstrate Viz Engine 3.9 during The Big AR Show at IBC 2017 stand 7.A20.

Photo-realistic virtual sets and augmented reality

Designers have new tools in Viz Artist for creating photo-realistic virtual sets and augmented reality (AR) graphics. The plugin suite seamlessly blends virtual assets with real-world elements using real-time global illumination, interchangeable colour lighting, accurate shadowing of materials and highly effective screen-space ambient occlusion.

Live virtual set production capabilities have been further enhanced with a reduced in-to-out delay to two frames in HD. This reduction smooths-out the entire production process; camera operators and production directors no longer deal with noticeable delays. For sports productions, this reduces the concerns when switching between clean and AR feeds.

UNREAL Engine 4 integration

Gaming assets, such as characters and objects can now be added to Vizrt scenes using the new UNREAL Engine 4 plugin architecture for Viz Engine. The UNREAL Engine 4 integration is available for virtual sets and AR productions, allowing interaction with gaming characters. For virtual sets, Unreal Engine 4 assets can form part of studio backdrops.
