Meet the winners of the Viz Artist Design Competition

High-quality submissions from around the world.

Vizrt has announced the three winners of the Viz Artist Design competition. The call for stimulating storytelling design in Viz Artist received a large number of entries from all over the world. Our panel of judges had a difficult decision choosing the best of all the great work submitted. After multiple rounds, the first, second and third-place winners have been chosen.

First Place: Cubetto

Pakistani designer Ahsen Khan was fascinated by Cubetto after reading about the little robot that teaches kids how to program in a blog post.

It ended up being the inspiration for his fantastic video, which captured first place in this year’s design competition.

Ahsen Khan uses Viz Artist for real time broadcast graphics such as full screen CGs, interactive screen designs, augmented reality and virtual graphics.

“I’m always willing to learn new things. When I first started designing in Viz Artist, I found it very user friendly. In addition, the learning curve was very short, and yet there is much more to explore,”  he says.

Khan, who holds a diploma in multimedia and design, has recently been working as a senior virtual set designer at Samaa TV, a Pakistani news and entertainment television network.

Second Place: Space

Sam Haffar’s submission Space was part of a ITV news package about the return of Tim Peake from the International Space Station.

Haffer, a designer based in Wimbledon, UK, says Space was designed as a scientific explainer allowing the audience to understand the procedure of how Peake’s capsule goes through a series of stages on its journey back to earth. “The graphic served as an informative, scientific grounding for the piece as a whole, which you could have never told with footage,” Haffar says.

Haffar honed his Viz Artist skills as a 3D designer at Sky News. “It is one of their focus software packages used for daily graphics,” says Haffar, a Wimbledon, UK, resident who holds a degree in film and moving image from Leeds Met University.

Third Place: Uber

S.M. ALOMGIR HOSSEN a Bangladeshi designer is one step closer to his dream by grabbing a top spot in this year’s design competition.

“Since I started using Viz Artist in 2011 it has been my dream to become the top Viz Artist Designer in my country. I found that the depth of Viz Artist makes me eager to learn even more.”  Hossen placed third this year for his creative and colourful submission about the Uber car hire service.

Regarding the Vizrt Design Competitions S.M. Alomgir said: “The Vizrt Design Competition is always challenging and I enjoy to take that challenge.”
