Vizrt merging with Escenic

The Norwegian CMS company Escenic AS was acquired by Vizrt in 2008 and has been fully integrated in Vizrt's operations since January 2010. The Escenic systems are now the core of Vizrts Online offerings.

Escenic was established in 1999 and quickly became a leading provider of strategic solutions for Content Management and Web Publishing. Escenic's flagship product, Escenic Content Engine, has been chosen to power over 500 websites in 14 countries including leading media, news providers, government and corporate sites.

The acquisition was part of Vizrt's vision of creating an end-to-end solution for online content production catering for the ongoing convergence of the web and traditional television.

“This is a perfect match”, said the late Bjarne Berg, Vizrt’s President and CEO at the time. “Escenic is one of the front runners in online publishing. As all major news web sites use video and graphics in a gradually increasing manner, we expect the combined company will have a product offering that should be well received in a broader market than the two companies have been able to address on their own.”

Since 2010 Escenic has been operating as a fully integrated part of Vizrt's global organization and is now known as Vizrt Online. The core online products are carrying the history with them, retaining the names Escenic Content Engine and Escenic Content Studio.

The customers Escenic brought with them are now looking at a multimedia and multichannel focus not imaginable before. Traditional Vizrt customers are introduced to tools for leveraging their assets to online and mobile with a simple workflow not previously seen in the world of broadcasting.
