As technology continues to change the game for broadcasters, the transition to a file-based workflow that is both adaptable and streamlined is becoming increasingly important. The investment in file-based workflows must be capable of handling both existing linear TV as well as multi-platform and future challenges. With a streamlined toolset, your content is available for delivery on new platforms with new revenue streams.
Viz Media Engine provides the broadcaster with a file-based workflow that enables production, management and delivery of media that can be performed from any desktop. The product consists of a central server-based media asset management system that can be hosted or locally integrated with the broadcast infrastructure in your facility. Built around extensive APIs, the system is easily adapted to your workflow. The system provides a lightweight, primarily web browser-based, interface giving users access to content based on individual rights and permissions. With our streamlined toolset, users can ingest, search, cut, group, share, re-purpose and deliver content to both your control room and online platforms - from their normal desktops or laptops and without the need to manually manage any of the files. Viz Media Engine offers a full end-to-end workflow from acquisition to editing, graphics branding and playout, the suite of tools allows you to distribute to many platforms with unique content.
Whether being a journalist, producer, archivist, operator or editor, Viz Media Engine gives you greater control over your own content. A user free from technical restrictions tracks down, edits and distributes content faster and more efficiently.
A Viz Media Engine setup is highly configurable and subject to individual preferences. Normally, the requirements resemble one of Vizrt’s two standard packages for the Viz Media Engine.
The online package gives a strong focus on online and mobile production. Video is transcoded and distributed to multiple mobile devices and web sites, thus ensuring an optimal end user experience. It enables you to publish all of your existing inventory to all devices and is built for scaling.
The video production package accommodates video production workflows including archiving, search, browse, and proxy editing content through a web interface. Support for third party integration via APIs and expandable storage.
Viz Media Engine includes tools to acquire media from files, cameras, mobile phones, SDI and IP sources. As content is brought in, the system generates frame-accurate proxy that can be accessed from any desktop. Media that is to be published for delivery to online is encoded to a wide number of formats and sizes to ensure we achieve the best video playback quality that each target device is capable of. Edit Decision Lists (EDLs) can also be sent from our proxy-based tools to your NLE workstations. The system will automatically manage transfers of media from and between multiple storage areas including your LTO-tape archives. Read more

The Viz Media Engine can be a full media asset management (MAM) or act as a gateway to existing MAM solutions. As a gateway, the editorial staff can search for all their assets through the Viz Media Engine interface in their Newsroom Control system. The Viz Media Engine recognizes all the content stored in existing MAM systems and retrieves that content through search results. This allows the editorial staff to have access to all video content and graphics in a single interface to distribute on-air, online and mobile devices.
Vizrt’s file-based video workflow solution is fully scalable allowing for multiple Viz Media Engine server installations. Search content and replicate media from multiple geographic locations, giving the editorial staffs in the hub and satellite offices of large station groups access to all their content.
The Viz Media Engine offers a full end to end solution. From ingest to editing, graphics branding and playout, the suite of tools allows the journalist to distribute to many platforms with unique content.
