Smarter ingest, transcoding and publishing

Viz Media Engine takes care of the complete chain of ingesting, transcoding and publishing content to a variety of formats adapted to almost every consumer device available.

Metadata, playlists, archive and storage – from a single point you have complete control over all your assets.

Proxy Editing

Expand your system with ingests from editors, the reporters in the field using Viz Reporter or scheduled imports. When files are ingested, metadata and live proxies are created – metadata enriched video allows the journalist to quickly edit the video through proxy, then Viz Media Engine automatically generates the full-resolution version for fast breaking news coverage. Once archived, the story is easy to locate for future use.

File-based and SDI workflows

The Viz Media Engine allows you to schedule SDI-ingest and your SDI-playout. Also, you can operate outside your normal SDI-setup including graphics branding.

We at Vizrt see the future as a file-based “non-SDI” workflow. SDI-workflows are expensive; they require staff and are associated with high maintenance costs. Viz Media Engine gives you excellent support for both workflows.

Device-adapted graphics

The prevalence of todays mobile devices creates the need to display graphics in a way that is easily understandable on every device whether full-screen or part of a video. Vizrt has taken on this challenge by using device detection to assign an appropriate scale and design for the graphics without altering the message. This gives the end user the best possible viewing experience from whatever mobile device they are on.

End to end solution

The Viz Media Engine offers a full end to end solution. From ingest to editing, graphics branding and playout, the suite of tools allows the journalist to distribute to many platforms with unique content.

A journalist free from technical restrictions tracks down, edits and distributes content faster  and more efficiently.

Highly configurable

A Viz Media Engine setup is highly configurable and subject to individual preferences. Normally, the requirements resemble one of Vizrt’s two standard packages for the Viz Media Engine.

Online Package

The online production package gives a strong focus on online and mobile production. Content is transcoded and distributed to multiple mobile devices and web sites. Search, browsing and proxy editing can be accomplished through integration with Escenic Content Studio or third party CMS solutions.

Video Production Package

The video production package accommodates video production workflows, including archiving. Search, browse, and proxy editing content through a web interface. Support for third party integration and expandable storage.

Integration with other Vizrt software

Viz Media Engine is usually the core of the system and everything else speaks to it. The integration of Viz Media Engine and the various other Vizrt products is a fundamental part of the design. This integration enables advanced workflows, such as:

  • Ingest media via Viz Reporter
  • Cut and adjust with Viz EasyCut
  • Add a graphics overlay designed in Viz Trio
  • Publish the result on the web, using Escenic Content Engine together with a map from Viz World
  • Viz Media Engine Delivery Core (previously named Viz Mobilize) transcodes the media to dozens of different formats for output to different kinds of mobile devices and web platforms.
  • Use the media in a TV broadcast by adding it to a playlist in Viz Content Pilot. The media is transferred to the specified playout servers and Viz Media Engine ensures that the file is available during the whole scheduled broadcast.

Integration with 3rd Party software

Viz Media Engine™ integrates seamlessly with many third party platforms. Vizrt support personnel can perform evaluations of installed systems to determine level of integration.
