Working with Viz Reporter
There are two ways of capturing content. The first option is to use the native camera application on your iPhone to take photos, record audio and video and browse for files. The second option is to use Viz Reporter.
Browsing for files
In the 'Browse files' menu the application scans your galleries and presents the media resources currently stored on your phone.
Tap the thumbnails to preview, add or remove media resources.
Selected media resources are marked with a green icon, and the number of selected media resources is displayed on the lower toolbar.
Taking photos
The photo camera selection gives you the possibility to capture images from within the application.
Recording video
The video recorder selection gives you the possibility to capture video from within the application.
Recording audio
The audio recorder selection gives you the possibility to record audio from within the application.
Compressing video
The application can add compressed versions of video files instead of the 720p originals. This functionality helps to reduce file size and leads to reduced upload time. If you have bad network speed this is of big help.
- Locate the 'gear' icon in the video preview and select the desired size. Resizing is then performed in the background.
Viewing selected media
Within the application you can at all times see what you have added to the report by tapping the (outlined) selected media resources counter icon on the lower toolbar.
In this screen you can preview, remove or re-add content.
Adding metadata to the report
After adding media resources you can add metadata to the report. This includes information about the author, a title and the GPS coordinates if enabled. You also need to set the group, under which the report will be sorted on the server-side.
- Once all the metadata is added you can tap the 'Send report' button to start the transfer.
Transferring content
The transfer screen shows both file and overall upload progress. The files are transferred using a robust mechanism.
As the transfer completes, the iPhone displays a green confirmation icon and gives off a short vibration.
