All your content managed in Escenic Content Engine can now be easily added to Adobe InDesign with our new plugin-in. Adobe InDesign users can access all content in Escenic Content Engine, allowing Escenic Content Studio users to work with the richest content (text, images, videos, graphics, maps etc) and then reuse text and images in InDesign.
Articles and images are tagged in Escenic Content Studio by Publication and Issue.
In Adobe InDesign the Content Finder displays all the articles that were tagged for that publication and issue.
The image on the right side shows how images and details relating to the publication and issue are shown inside the Adobe InDesign user interface. When an article is dropped in the InDesign document, the different elements of the article (title, body text, image) will be mapped to the corresponding placeholders in the document. The name of the publication the user is logged into is displayed at the top of the Content Finder. If the user has access to multiple publications, this element could be a drop-down menu instead of just a label. Below the publication name we find the issue number (“March 2011” in the example). This element would be a drop-down menu, allowing the user to choose a different issue. Below the issue number we see a list of content items (only stories in the example above, - in principle it could also be “standalone” images). These are the content items that belong to this particular edition. The stories in the Content Finder will be listed alphabetically by title. The number to the right in the stories list indicates on which page the story is in the InDesign document. This effectively also shows which stories have already been put into the document.
Dropping articles
When an article is dropped in the InDesign document, the different elements of the article (title, body text, image) will be mapped to corresponding placeholders in the InDesign document.
Updates
If a content item is edited in Escenic Content Studio after it has been dragged into InDesign, changes will not be propagated to InDesign. Edits done in InDesign will not be pushed back into Escenic Content Engine.
