Viz One 5.4

Viz One 5.4 is a minor, but significant release, that contains a large number of new features.

New Features

This release contains a large number of new features. It is the most significant feature increment made to Viz One to date. In total, seven new third-party systems and products have been integrated. Within the Vizrt product family, we have added support for our latest generation of broadcast live-video recorder, the Viz Video Engine.

The following new features have been added to Viz One since version 5.3.0:

  • Viz Video Engine - Support for the latest generation Viz Video Engine, which was released earlier this year at IBC. System administrators can now add a new “Viz Video Engine 2” recording device, using the Studio administrator’s console. These record devices can then be configured for use by either our feed scheduler, Viz Dart, or by our manual tape capture utility. This combination enables acquisition of a wide variety of SDI content directly into Viz One.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 – Access to Viz One media from Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. Whether using Mac or Windows, Premiere professionals get direct access to the wealth of assets held in Viz One. Our Premiere extension shows up as a panel with full search and media access. Assets can be added directly to the sequence or selected project, without waiting for any file transfers. When using old raw material or projects, with assets stored in a tape library, Viz One will automatically restore and relink media and sequences as needed. Users can also pre-edit with our proxy-based editors Precut and Easycut, before sending their proxy-based edit decisions lists (EDLs) to Premiere. The EDL arrives in Premiere as a sequence linked to hi-resolution media with effects, allowing professional editors to complete the edit. The cooperation of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and Viz One provides a powerful yet quick and efficient tool for workgroup video editing.
  • Segmentation – A new data type for storing break segmentation. Using Logger in the new segmentation mode, users can create break segmentation. Segmentation is performed on a media asset and  presented alongside other metadata in Studio. To enable third-party systems, such as automation systems, we also provide new APIs that can process the segmentation data.
  • Gateway – The toolset for operating Viz One as a gateway to assets stored in third party systems, has been further improved. This opens-up video stored in third party systems for use in many of Vizrt’s applications.
  • Enhanced Search - Find assets faster with our new search auto-completion. Save and review your search history. Construct advanced queries for pin-point accuracy when locating assets. New print-friendly view for hard copy of results.
  • Enhanced Metadata - To represent structured metadata and groups, a- Thesaurus, Directories, Programs, and Episodes have been added to the metadata model.
  • 1080p23.976 – Viz One now supports 1080p23.976 content in MXF-Op1a wrapped XDCAM HD 50Mbps 4:2:2 and DNxHD / VC-3 at 36 and 175 Mbit.
  • Avid NLE - Handshaking metadata with Avid Interplay. When transferring assets between Interplay and Viz One,  key metadata is retained.
  • APIs – A total of seven new long-term stable APIs have been added. They include APIs for: packaging (segmentation, subtitling and dubbing) , programs, series, logging, playlists, transfers and user management. Viz One APIs are aimed at customers and third-parties who will build integrations and customizations. They are fully documented, complete with a quick start guide.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 – Support for RHEL 6.3 Server Operating System.

Additional High-level Features

  • SeaChange Video Servers - Video servers from SeaChange can now be used for ingest and playout together with Viz One.
  • Telestream Vantage Transcoder - Integration with Telestream Vantage. This also including specific support for performing Apple ProRes exchange with Final Cut Pro using Telestream Vantage.
  • Avid iNews - Rundowns can now be synchronized from Avid iNews. This enables an efficient News workflow, where stories are made and associated directly in Viz One, whilst media destined for your control room or playout servers, can be staged automatically.
  • DIVArchive – Support for using Front Porch DIVArchive as a permanent storage in Viz One. We use APIs from Front Porch Digital to control archiving as well as partial retrieval from DIVA.
  • Aspera Bandwidth Optimization - Endpoint monitoring of files arriving from Aspera bandwidth optimizers. This informs users how much of a file has been transferred to the system and when they can start working on an asset.
  • Signiant Bandwidth Optimization -  Endpoint monitoring of files arriving from Signiant bandwidth optimizers. The monitoring lets users know how much of a file has been transferred to the system and when they can start work on an asset.
