  • Global alternative concept: The Media Sequencer now takes global alternative concept into consideration during initialization and playout. The alternative concept can be specified on various levels in the hierarchy. The Media Sequencer gives different priority to the different levels. See also the detailed information in the MSE manual.
  • Low-priority queue: A new low-priority queue has been introduced in the Media Sequencer, allowing tasks that are not time-critical to be scheduled differently from tasks that are time-critical. This increases responsiveness for critical operations.
  • Copy-on-write semantics in VDOM: The Media Sequencer now uses copy-on-write semantics in the VDOM document, which results in lower memory usage under normal usage patterns.
  • Installing a Media Sequencer: The Media Sequencer main component is now a required component and cannot be  marked as "unavailable" when installing. The components now cannot be marked as "Feature will be installed when required" when installing the Media Sequencer. The Media Sequencer puts a desktop shortcut to a launcher by default. The Media Sequencer's installation now automatically adds exceptions in the Windows firewall for the ports that the Media Sequencer listens on.
  • Upgrading a Media Sequencer: It is possible to upgrade a Media Sequencer without needing to uninstall the old installation first.
  • Log format changes: The time format used in log files and console is changing from 00.ffff to hh:mm:ss.ffff. This might affect log parsers.
  • Pre-viz command hooks: Master templates can now have logic in section "pre_viz_commands" working like section "commands".
  • Sockets management: Socket collection management has been optimized, which could degrade performance when the Media Sequencer operates on a very large playlist.
  • New Plug-ins: generate_control_list, playlist_entry_path, tc_clock
  • Plug-in Enhancements and Fixes to many plug-ins
  • Web Applications - GatewayController: Added a configuration panel to configure Control Station main/backup pair. Added a new 'Always use Main NCS ID' setting in the Failover Settings panel that was required for the failover support for the Sobey newsroom system.
