Media Sequencer 3.1

Media Sequencer 3.1.0, including Gateway 3.1.0, is released

We are pleased to announce the release of Media Sequencer (MSE) 3.1.0, including Gateway 3.1.0. This release provides new features, improvements and bugfixes and is a recommended upgrade for MSE 3.0.1 installations.

Note: Media Sequencer 3.1.0 is now only available as 64-bit software. Therefore, if using Media Sequencer 3.1.0 with Viz Pilot, a 64-bit Oracle database client is required.

Highlights
  • Composite elements can now be set to loop and can also be cued
  • Improved availability status by polling availability of HTTP image resources
  • Support for back-to-back playout in MVCP plugin
  • Support for adding video elements to a playlist using REST API
  • Support for activating a playlist using REST API
  • Support for sending response message in pb_listener actor
  • Extended as_run_log format to support arbitrary context
New Plugins
  • The composite plugin contains the functionality for handling playout of composite elements
  • The http_resource_poller plugin is responsible for polling availability of HTTP images
Fixes
  • Several fixes in the viz_video plugin related to video playout on Viz Engine
  • Several fixes in the MVCP plugin related to using Xlator with Omneon servers
  • Fixed a bug in db_handler that caused fetching of elements or templates bigger than 32 KB to fail in cases where the db_handler had to re-connect to the database
  • Fixed an issue where the duration of video or composite elements in looping MOS playlists were longer than expected
  • Fixed a possible memory leak when receiving an invalid publishing point XML document
  • Fixed a problem where updating a Viz Pilot element in an element collection returned a 400 bad request
  • The availability status is now updated immediately after the Media Sequencer receives the response from posting an asset to a distribution bundle
