Media Sequencer 4.0

Media Sequencer 4.0, including Gateway 4.0, is released. It is recommended as an update for control applications that require this version.

This is a major release that includes new features, improvements and bugfixes. It is recommended for new installations, and as an update for customers with control applications that require this version of the Media Sequencer.

Note that Media Sequencer 4.0 is only available as 64-bit software. Version 3.0 warned that all future versions will only be available as 64-bit, and 32-bit support was dropped in version 3.1.

  • Support for configuring Gateway to use the Pilot Data Server REST API for sending MOS object messages to the Newsroom System.

Highlights
  • Support for fetching Viz Pilot elements through the Pilot Data Server REST API, as an alternative to the direct Oracle connection. This makes it possible to use the Graphic Hub as back-end
  • Support for live events of variable length in Media Sequencer automated playlists (Viz Multichannel)
  • Added capability for auto activation of VDCP-controlled playlists.
New plugins
  • vcp_service: Using this new actor, the Media Sequencer can now fetch Viz Pilot data elements and templates from the Pilot Data Server if they are version 7.0 or newer.
Fixes
  • Fixed synced preview so it works with profiles created by Viz Trio 3.0 and newer
  • Fixed a bug preventing the Viz Trio client from using Quick CG elements in a MOS playlist
  • Improved the pb_listener actor to validate elements before triggering them
  • Support Viz Pilot elements referred from shows structures used in Viz Multiplay
  • Properly close outgoing HTTP connections that are refused by the server
