Vizrt is pleased to announce the release of Coder 2.1. This is a minor release of Coder. This release delivers improved support for mobile videos. The feature list below contains more information about the new features.

Interpolation of audio is now logarithmic
The algorithm used when interpolating audio has been changed from linear to logarithmic. This matches the human perception of volume better.
Improved API performance
The internal cache size for jobs has been increased to 2000. The database is now also using Write-Ahead Logging. These changes give faster API responses, especially in the event of a large number of jobs.
Starting jobs in parallel
Previously Coder would start a job and wait for it to start before starting a new job. Now multiple jobs start at the same time. This significantly increases performance when there is a large number of jobs.
Worker is now caching SDI capabilities
The Coder Worker is now caching the SDI capabilities to increase API performance. You must now restart the service after plugging in new hardware or installing drivers.
Worker's service document
The Coder master now exposes the worker's service document in the nodes feed.
Improved support for mobile videos
Coder is now more resilient to errors in media files. Especially videos from mobile phones seems to have gaps in time stamps, missing video or missing audio.
No in-line VCOS in worker jobs feed
The Coder worker no longer exposes the VCOS document in-line in the jobs feed.

Coder is our next generation transcoder that replaces older transcoders in our systems and products. It is an integral part of Viz One as well as a standalone component that can be used with other Vizrt products such as Viz Engine.
