Enhancing Corporate Communications with Video

We saw the pressing need of sharing knowledge in a scalable manner, but in a unique way to an online meeting. We needed our subject matter experts to make content with the same quality standards, at home. A very important requirement for the studio was that it needed to be accessible for everyone in our organisation. For this, we needed a solution that could be operated by any person, and also be used for large productions. In minutes, we can change the entire set from a corporate setting to a living room look and feel, or personalise it to one of our brands. The TriCaster is very powerful in making this possible. The new studio brings employees closer together and makes communication more efficient. Strategy is easier shared directly with everyone, instead of only going through management lines. This helps us speed up our business. The next step for us is to create hybrid events where colleagues can choose to be physically at an event or watch it from home. The pandemic has brought about this demand, but with the TriCaster in place, we only need to add a couple of NDI cameras to our auditorium and we're ready to go.

We set ourselves to deliver professional video productions and live broadcasts from our studio over the Internet. Technical solutions had to be efficient, scalable, and easy to use, from the bank's Norwegian head office in Trondheim, and with the possibility of remote control from other locations. The TriCaster and NDI setup for our studio has proven to be a very flexible solution in producing and broadcasting live from several of the bank's locations. With NDI HX, we have put in place a setup that is both cost-effective in terms of bandwidth and user-friendly, which were important factors for us in choosing technical solutions The benefits of TriCaster and NDI as a technology platform for our studio rig have primarily been on the network and infrastructure side. Several boxes for handling signal conversion and transitions between different devices have now been replaced with a production system that connects everything in a seamless experience. We now only need to connect our PCs to the production system with a simple cable, and everything works.

With everyone working from home, there was an imperative to create more complex and engaging live streams with feeds coming in from all over the place. For example, we have a CEO coming into our studio to address his company as part of a live-stream event. It is far better – for reasons of sustainability and practicality – to do this than have 2,000 people travel to a conference hall. We have also used it to deliver numerous events for Fujitsu, which is one of the largest technology brands in the world. The days of getting people to travel into the capital so much are at an end, I think; there is a new world and environment that we all need to think about. Live streaming is here to stay, and we are still doing a lot of streaming events. We were very happy with the TriCaster Mini, so buying a TriCaster 2 Elite was a logical next step. It's proven to be incredibly versatile for the wide range of projects that we work on; it's really the perfect solution for us. It's a very comprehensive piece of kit; whether you are doing a podcast, a vodcast, broadcast TV, or corporate productions, it puts on all those different hats very well! It's robust, versatile, and a 'safe pair of hands' that can handle any production. We couldn't do what we do, without the TriCaster.

Covid hit and TissueTech's national sales convention was going to be cancelled. But the price to go virtual was astronomical. It was six figures. But I told them I could do the meeting for half that price. And that's exactly what I did. Vizrt was really my only option. I knew we had remote presenters. I knew we had green screen. I knew it was three days. I knew we had to piggyback two separate sets, sometimes with the same feed, sometimes with two separate feeds. Using two TriCasters gave us the power of an entire production truck that would have cost a small fortune to rent for a 3 days event. Everything had to work right. Given how complex the set-up was for these meetings, TriCaster was the perfect choice. We actually had one case where two doctors simultaneously shared a slide deck. They traded back and forth while they were 2,000 miles away from one another and it all worked flawlessly. We also had to come up with a background that incorporated all the glitz and glamour of a Hollywood awards show. And thanks to Vizrt's NDI technology, each of the award-winners were able to give an acceptance speech from their homes. TissueTech was over the moon. The theme for the conference was "Level Up" and, because of Vizrt and the TriCaster, that was something our production was able to do. It was fantastic.

Each classroom is both a place where educational content is created and a place where content is consumed. And through the COVID-19 pandemic era, we realized that we must conduct education anytime, anywhere, regardless of infrastructure. NDI was the best choice for us. If the network is connected, we can transmit educational content by connecting cameras and converters anywhere in the training center through NDI. We knew that we needed AV tech that would work in a large campus and attend to high volumes of content in the form of online lectures. The structure provided by Vizrt and NDI, along with the high quality of video and audio, and the immediate and simple connection between locations, is exactly what we needed. Now, there are no headaches in trying to get tech to work, it just works.

The importance of video in internal communications

“When running a global company, you need to interact with all your employees. The most efficient way of interacting is obviously face-to-face. That’s not possible if you’re running a global organization because of sustainability, cost and efficiency issues. The second best is video. A really good in-house video production can actually help you reach out almost like you were in person. So that’s why it’s important for us, and we use it frequently when it comes to communicating and delivering messages whether it’s about our corporate goals and objectives, launching a new product or whatever it is. We use video to enhance our storytelling when we talk to our employees. It is as important as when we talk with an external audience. Video is the most efficient way of communicating. Video is crucial. And I believe we will use it more and more as we move into the future.”
