wTVision India leverages Vizrt to win over fans with innovative sports storytelling in motion

Case Study
Intro

India is one of the world’s fastest growing hubs for live sports production with a fan base of over 655 million. For broadcasters and production services companies, the opportunity is enormous. But, so are the demands.

Challenge

For wTVision, a real-time broadcast services company and a key player in the sports graphics, technology, and services space in India, it is an everyday challenge to find new ways to deliver dynamic graphics and data-visualization workflows. To add to that, with high-profile clients like BCCI, ICC, JioStar and Sony Television, and the responsibility of covering the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pro Kabbadi League, Asia Cup and several high-profile events, their goal was clear: deliver faster turnaround, richer visual storytelling, and platforms that could scale for domestic and international audiences alike.

Familiarity with Vizrt products gave the team at wTVision a head-start – but staying competitive required a change, the ability to incorporate seamless real-time AR graphics, deep live data integration, and production workflows that could lift both the production experience, as well as the viewer experience.

Solution

For Divyajot ‘DJ’ Ahluwalia, Founder and Director of wTVision Solutions Pvt. Ltd in India, the solution was a no-brainer. Over the last 20 years, his team has leveraged their R&D, development teams and Vizrt products such as Viz Engine, Viz Libero, Viz Arena, Viz Virtual Studio, Viz Trio, and Viz Arc to bring innovative, agile and value-driven workflows for his clients. This included:

Real-Time 3D Graphics and AR with Viz Engine and Viz Arc

For the 2025 Indian Premier League, Viz Engine was deployed with Viz Arc, Viz Engine and Unreal Engine to deliver immersive real-time 3D graphics and live Augmented Reality. This setup enabled dynamic in-stadium AR elements, such as player stats and branded visuals, controlled live through Viz Arc with precise timing and tracking.

The result: An engaging AR experience for fans that really raised the level of match coverage without adding production overhead.

Live data-driven graphics and analysis with Viz Libero

To enhance storytelling during live games, wTVision used all the core features of Viz Libero along with the unique to Viz Libero 3D camera flights that could show angles of play not captured by the stadium cameras, real-time sports data, player spotlight and metrics to give fans deeper insights of what was happening on the field. The final output was a richer, more visually informative coverage for fans that was driven by real-time data.

Non-Intrusive graphics using Viz Arena for Kabbadi broadcast

Viz Arena was used to place graphics directly on the mat, without interfering with the viewer experience. These seamless, non-intrusive tied-to-field overlays are often used to place virtual advertising, but can just as easily be used to add sponsor branding, game data and even channel branding in real-time. These elements were a great way to further engage not just fans, but also sponsors, opening new monetization opportunities.

Our continued partnership with Vizrt is driven by their consistent innovation and intuitive user workflows,” says DJ, and “this ensures wTVision could present high-impact graphics while our production team remains agile.

POC: Seamless Fill and Key integration for tracked graphics

wTVision was looking for a way to place Augmented Reality graphics behind a player. This wasn’t going to be possible with standard chroma keying techniques. To meet this challenge, wTVision developed an AI-based keyer that could create a real time key mask of a player. Viz Engine and Viz Virtual Studio were used to visualize and to insert tracked graphics accurately, aligned with the moving subject in the footage. The end result was high-quality tracked graphics locked to moving subjects.

Outcome

The impact is clear:

  • Shortened production cycles and smoother integration of data and graphics in fast-moving sports events
  • Enhanced visual richness during IPL broadcasts for JioStar and BCCI, raising on-screen standards and viewer engagement.
Champak is the ‘champ’ — giving high fives and winning over audiences everywhere.

From a strategic vantage, wTVision now positions itself not just as a service provider but as an innovation partner — enabling sports producers to deliver premium, fan-first live experiences.

One of these innovations is Champak — the Robotic Dog Camera System.

Capable of ‘seeing’, recording  and moving, AND handing out high fives, this camera canine wasn’t  just filming the action, it was part of it, helping, for instance, to reframe cricket to be more human, fun and relatable.

Fans were ecstatic in their reaction — 5.8 million social media views and 72,000 reshares.

And this is what wTVision is all about. Embracing an R&D-centric roadmap with AI based tools to drive workflow acceleration, and ultimately deliver the perfect blend of innovation, emotion, and entertainment in sports storytelling.

Looking ahead, DJ predicts the next frontier in sports-tech will be AI that understands the game context and automatically drives graphics, stats, and storytelling. A future that wTVision, supported by Vizrt solutions, is investing heavily in.
