For the BBC Sport’s coverage of the Women’s Euros 2025, Lightwell used Vizrt technology to deliver a virtual studio design that matched the scale of the tournament.
To reflect the Swiss setting, the studio placed presenters inside a mountaintop pavilion overlooking Lake Lucerne, surrounded by alpine views, fluttering national flags, and skies that shifted with the time of day. More than just a backdrop, the environment grounded the coverage in the look and feel of Switzerland, while giving producers the creative flexibility of a fully virtual space.
The virtual studio was built using our live graphics and real-time rendering tools in combination with Unreal Engine, allowing BBC Sport to deliver a high-end, immersive production without physical constraints.
Viz Engine powered the real-time graphics and Unreal integration, while our Reality Connect placed the presenters naturally within the virtual set with accurate shadows, reflections, and lighting, creating a realistic and cohesive on-screen experience.
